What will be accelerated -
Web pages - HTML markup and JavaScript, Graphics including JPEG and GIF images,
Text, and E-mail on the Web
What will not be accelerated -
Streaming media, audio/video files, Secure pages, Files and attachments such as music or digital photos.
How does it work?
With traditional dial-up, text and graphics that make up web pages is
sent from the server to you over your phone line. Web Favorite HiSpeed compresses
this data using a proprietary technology, and sends it over your existing dial-up
connection. This compression process allows a smaller amount data to be sent making
the download time of web pages and graphics much faster.
Additionally, Web Favorite HiSpeed stores elements of some
Web sites so you do not have to re-download them every
time you visit them.
Web Favorite HiSpeed System Requirements
Internet Browser (IE 5+, Netscape Navigator
4.7 or later, Opera or Mozilla require additional configuration), Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
(Mac and Linux are not currently supported), Pentium PC 200MHz or better with 5 MB
available disk space, 64 MB of System Memory.
