Windows 2000 Professional Dialup Configuration


Setup and Configuration

  1. Go to Start-->Settings-->Networking and Dial-up Connections.

     
     
     
  2. Double click on Make New Connection.

     
     
     
  3. Click Next.

     
     
     
  4. Select Dial-up to the Internet  and click Next.

     
     
     
  5. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)". Click Next.

     
     
     
  6. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem". Click Next.

     
     
     
  7. Type in your access number. Click Next.

     
     
     
  8. Enter your user name and password and click Next.

     
     
     
  9. Enter whatever you prefer for Connection name and click Next.

     
     
     
  10. Select No if you decided to setup your Mail account later.

     
     
     
  11. Make sure Uncheck "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box" and then click Finish.

     
     
     
  12. Right Click on the connection icon you just created and then go to Properties.

     
  13. Check "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" box and then click Settings.

     
     
     
  14. Select Security tab at the top of the windows and then check to be sure your settings match the ones pictured here. Click OK.

     
     
     
  15. Select Networking tab and click Properties.
  16. Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are checked. Click on Advanced.

     
     
     
  17. Uncheck "Use IP header compression" and click OK.




  18. In order to connect to Web Favorite, double click on the icon you created in the steps above in Start-->Settings-->Networking and Dial-up Connections.



  19. Enter your user name and password and click Dial.
