Windows 2000 Professional Dialup Configuration
Setup and Configuration
- Go to Start-->Settings-->Networking and Dial-up
Connections.
- Double click on Make New Connection.
- Click Next.
- Select Dial-up to the Internet and click Next.
- Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to
connect through a local area network (LAN)". Click Next.
- Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem". Click
Next.
- Type in your access number. Click Next.
- Enter your user name and password and click Next.
- Enter whatever you prefer for Connection name and click
Next.
- Select No if you decided to setup your Mail account later.
- Make sure Uncheck "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this
box" and then click Finish.
- Right Click on the connection icon you just created and then go to
Properties.
- Check "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" box and then click
Settings.
- Select Security tab at the top of the windows and then check
to be sure your settings match the ones pictured here.
Click OK.
- Select Networking tab and click Properties.
- Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain
DNS server address automatically" are checked. Click on Advanced.
- Uncheck "Use IP header compression" and click OK.
- In order to connect to Web Favorite, double click on the icon you created in the steps above in Start-->Settings-->Networking and
Dial-up Connections.
- Enter your user name and password and click Dial.
